C.I.T. (Counselor In Training) FAQ’s

DSC_0062We know you have a lot of questions – so don’t be afraid ask us. We are still developing this program and uploading your FAQs here. Send us your questions and we will get back to you ASAP. Check back here often to see what new FAQs get posted.

I don’t have a camp name yet, do I really need one?
Yes. ALL C.I.T.s and Adult volunteers will need to pick a camp name prior to camp. We can help with this and during the training sessions will do an activity to help you find the perfect name. Before you get too excited you need to make sure that the camp name you pick is still available. Email us with your choice and we will let you know if it is still available. This should be a fun activity and since everyone at camp has them it would feel funny if you didn’t.

I can’t come for the whole week but still want to help – can I come for only a few days to camp?
Sorry, no. If you want to participate in the C.I.T. Program you will need to commit to the whole week. The C.I.T. unit will work on special trainings and projects throughout the whole week and it is important for all girls to be a part of the team. If you have a small conflict and want to talk with us to see if something can be worked out we would love to hear from you and will do our best to make it work.

Are there showers at camp?
No. We will set up an outdoor washing station for the girls to clean up and be fresh for every day at camp (part of being a Girl Scout is learning how to handle new situations and trying new things). The C.I.T.s will be dismissed at 4pm on Wednesday afternoon to leave camp and go home and shower mid-week before meeting up back up in time for dinner later than night.

Will I have any time off?
Yes. While C.I.T.s will spend the full week at camp they will work part of the time and play the rest of the time. During the daytime program (9am-4pm) they will help run the camp and work with younger Scouts. In the afternoon and evening times they will have some of their own special program and training, but there will also be plenty of time for them just to hang out and have girl time together with their fellow C.I.T.s. The C.I.T.s will also have Wednesday afternoon off to leave camp and go home and shower before meeting up back up in time for dinner later than night.
